Boardman - Thomas E. Mountford, Jr., 71, of Boardman, died, Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Hospice House.
Mr. Mountford was born December 3, 1938 in Youngstown, a son of Thomas and Mary Wick Mountford.
He was a graduate of Boardman High School. Mr. Mountford worked as a welder, and started his trade with Tee-nee Trailer on Indianola Avenue in Youngstown, and then went to work in 1964 for Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company until its closing in 1996. He then worked for Aeriss, Inc. on South Avenue Extension, retiring from there in 2006.
A true car enthusiast, he was car crazy, and loved his 1997 Mustang LS. He took pleasure working on cars and collecting model cars. From 1994 to 1998, he owned Tom's Auto Body on Southern Blvd. He also enjoyed drag racing, NASCAR, playing golf, and listening to Frank Sinatra.
Mr. Mountford had a dual membership with the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a member of the Meander F.O.E. No. 3298 in Austintown, where he served as past worthy treasurer and the F.O.E. No. 213 in Youngstown, where he served as past worthy president. He was also a member of the Mahoning Valley Mustang Club and the Petri Club.
He leaves his wife, the former Joan Yallech, whom he married October 16, 1998; two daughters, Debbie (Marc) Sakara of Youngstown and Colleen Berarducci of Boardman; two sons, Thomas E. Mountford III of Youngstown and Patrick (Melody) Mountford of Erie, PA; 13 grandchildren, Layla Morris, Tommy Morris, Courtney Mountford, Tiffany Berarducci, Petey Berarducci, Cassie Mountford, Ryan Mountford, Jessica Mountford, Marissa Mountford, Shawna Johnston, Bridget Johnston, Michael Buranich, and Bella Buranich; one step-daughters, Kimberly (Thomas) Johnston of Bainbridge, IN; step-son, Robert (Liz) Buranich of Austintown; brother, George (Opal) Mountford of Holiday, FL; three sisters, Chicki (John) Timko of Mineral Ridge, Mary Ann (Corky) Comstock of Boardman, and Patricia (Timothy) Jenyk of Muncie, IN; and his beloved dog, Oreo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved poodle, Muffonette.
A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Matthias Church.
Family and friends will be received today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
