Thomas Philip McIntee Jr.

May 8, 1937 — April 23, 2018

Poland - Thomas Philip McIntee Jr, 80 of Poland, formerly of Struthers, died Monday afternoon, April 23, 2018 at Caprice Health Center.

Tom was born May 8, 1937 in Youngstown, a son of the late Thomas and Mary Gaffney McIntee.

Raised in Struthers, Tom was a graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1955. He attended Youngstown State University for two years and went on to become a member the first graduating class of the Chrysler Corporation School. A Dodge automobile dealer, Tom worked for numerous car dealerships, but was most known for owning and operating McIntee Motors in Struthers for over 35 years.

Tom was a former member of the Struthers Lions Club and the Struthers Rotary Club. He volunteered for St. Vincent DePaul Society and generously gave his time, with his children in tow, visiting church members who were in the hospital. Always appreciating good food, Tom was a member of the former Top Fork, a dining club for critiquing restaurants in the area and he was affectionately nicknamed "the Big Mac." He was currently a long time member of the ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Eating Out).

Tom was very proud of his Irish heritage and treasured his trip with his cousins to Ireland. He also enjoyed family vacations to Florida and summers at Indian Creek on Geneva on the Lake.

Tom is best remembered for his love of Struthers, his love for his family and his genuine gift for caring. He cherished his friendships and was always available for an outing or visit. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments in sports, band and later their contributions as adults. They will always hold dear to their hearts his sense of humor and his knack for remembering riddles and songs and sharing them with them.

Tom leaves his wife of almost 56 years, Joan Parsyck, whom he married May 6, 1961; one daughter, Joanie (Russ) McVicker of Columbus; one son, Thomas (Maria) McIntee of Struthers; one sister, Mary Virginia Kundos of Boardman; and five grandchildren, Molly (Kyle) Schoen, Sean McVicker, Tom McIntee, Katie McIntee and Tim McIntee.
