Youngstown - Thomas J. Hoskin, 67, of Youngstown, died Thursday, January 22, 2016 at his residence.
Tom was born August 24, 1948 in Mineral Ridge, OH, a son of Leland and Dorothy Baer Hoskin.
He was raised in Austintown and was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. Tom was a proud U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War, from 1967 until 1971 and afterwards served in the Reserves.
Tom worked as a salesman for Schwebels Bakery for 30 years and retired in 2005. After retiring he worked for Gold Cross Livery in Struthers. Tom also managed the former Hardees and later Vic n Syl's Restaurant in Struthers.
Tom's first toy was his Challenger, but Tom's favorite toy was his Harley. He, and his best buddy Tom, road their Harleys to Sturgis, South Dakota, the West Virginia River Gorge, New England, and every road in between. Tom was a member of the American Legion Post in Lake Milton where he was known to play the machines. He enjoyed weekly visits with his friends at the Mocha House, spending time with his grandchildren, attending his grandson's Challenger Baseball games and home cooked meals at his daughter's house. Tom loved his family, his friends, and his best four legged friend, his Shitzu, "Killer."
His wife, the former Beverly Mae Sinclair, whom he married October 14, 1972 died September 10, 2012; he leaves his mother, Dorothy, of Austintown; one daughter, Lori A. (Norman Venable) Hoskin of Boardman; two grandchildren, Sapphire Menton and Jayden Harris; two brothers, Dave Hoskin of Mineral Ridge and Jeff Hoskin of Brookfield; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and his best friend and riding buddy, Tom Merck.
Friends will be received at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Tuesday from 5-7 PM where a prayer service will follow at 7 PM.
