Poland - Thomas Armeni, 88, of Poland, died early Tuesday morning at Shepherd of the Valley. Tom was born January 25, 1920 in Youngstown, a son of Sam and Christine Morella Armeni. He was a mill wright leader for Commercial Intertech for 47 years, retiring in 1983. After retirement, he served as an consultant for 5 years for the company. A United States Army veteran from 1943 to 1946, Tom served as a truck and tank mechanic in the Pacific in World War II. He was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland and served in the Civilian Conservation Corp from 1936 to 1938. Mr. Armeni and his wife raised German Shepherds for 35 years. Besides his wife, the former Jenny L. Gentile, whom he married June 22, 1972, he leaves one daughter, Renee (Vince) Peloza of Poland; one son, Robert Malovec also of Poland; one sister, Viola Armeni of Boardman; one brother, Robert Armeni also of Boardman; and two grandchildren, Heather Nicole Peloza and Justin Malovec. Besides his parents Mr. Armeni was preceded in death by seven sisters, Rose Smaldino, Virginia DiTomasso, Mary Guerri, Pauline Salgo, Mildred Faulkner, Theresa Kitt, and Josephine Colotone; and three brothers, Sam, Richard, and Joe Armeni. Tom's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of the Valley and to the employees and patients of Shepherd of the Valley for the wonderful care and concern for Tom and his family. Memorial services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Poland with Rev. Msgr. William J. Connell, officiating. Private interment will follow in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
