Theresa E. Leporis

North Lima - Theresa Elizabeth Leporis, 98, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Assumption Village.

Mrs. Leporis was born April 14, 1914 in Ft. Wayne, IN, a daughter of Biagio and Vincenza (DeLuise) Liberato, and came to this area as a toddler. Throughout the years, she has made her home in Lowellville, Youngstown, and Boardman.

Mrs. Leporis first worked as a cashier for The Regent Theater and later as a cook for the original Belleria on Albert Street, retiring at the age of 63.

She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers. Mrs. Leporis enjoyed crocheting and shared many of her creations with family and friends. Many looked forward to her wonderful cooking and baking, especially her homemade jelly, canned foods, and cookies that she could often be found making for weddings.

Her husband, Floyd A. Leporis, whom she married August 10, 1939, died May 3, 2002. She is survived by three daughters, Mary (Mickey) Davis of Dayton, Virginia "Gina" (Robert) Calcagni of Poland, and Theresa (Jim) Ewing of Port Charlotte, FL; sister, Madeline Murray of Bedford, PA; eleven grandchildren, Maria (Randy) Kowch of Phoenix, Michael (Diane) Davis of Kettering, Julie Calcagni of Powell, Dr. Christopher (Diane) Davis of Massillon, Roberta Bianchi of Solon, Tony (Debbie) Davis of Cincinnati, Gigi (Shawn) Rodgers of Glenwillow, Sean Ewing of Louisville, KY, Maria (Matt) Cosler of Beavercreek, Danny Ewing of New Port Richey, FL, and John Calcagni (Steve Cotterill) of Redwood City, CA; and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Marzio and Louise Morell; and two brothers, Nick and Angelo Liberato.

A prayer service will be held Thursday at 10:15 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Leporis' name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512 or to The Rich Center for Autism, 1 University Plaza, Youngstown, Ohio 44555.
