STRUTHERS - Thaddeus Niemczura, 86, died Tuesday morning, April 8, 2014, at his residence.
Thaddeus was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Campbell, a son of John and Victoria Zastawny Niemczura.
He was a 1945 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, where he played football and basketball. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Philippines. He later retired from the Vindicator.
Thaddeus enjoyed golfing, bowling , the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Donna Yuhas, whom he married Sept. 23, 1961; five daughters, Kim (Dennis) Johnson, Jacci (Ron) Colaneri, Sue (Bill) Ludwick, all of Struthers, Cathy (Tim) Tusek of Poland, and Carol (Clint) Lake of Westerville; one brother, Walter (Janice) Niemczura of Powell; 11 grandchildren, Jill (Troy Duwe) Colaneri, Lauren Toprani, Joshua Toprani, Kaitlyn Opritza, Lindsey Opritza, Scott (Leslie) Johnson, Michael Colaneri, Nick (Kelly) Johnson, Matthew Ludwick, Sam Ludwick, T.J. Tusek; and five great-grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Nicholas, Carter and Paxton.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Frank, John and Joseph Niemczura and sister, Katherine Martauz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon on Friday, April 11, at the Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers.
Friends will be received Friday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the church.
