Youngstown - Terry Funk, 69, of Youngstown, died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Terry was born March 12, 1942 in Youngstown, a son of the late Henry and Martha Graham Funk.
He was a 1960 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. At the age of 12, Terry's father died and he went to work for a gas station to help support the family. This introduced him to the world of cars and his lifelong enthusiasm and love for them.
He began his career as a diesel truck mechanic while serving his apprenticeship under Bothwell Trucking. Throughout his career, he worked for many different companies in the area including McNicholas Transfer, Borden Dairy, and retired from R.L Best International.
Even when Terry wasn't at work, he managed to center himself around cars. You could always find him attending the nearest car show, and he was a member of the Stocker's Car Club, Youngstown Rod and Custom, and was affiliated with the King Midget Car Club. He also loved the outdoors and was a member of the New Middletown Farmers and Sportsmen's Club.
He leaves his wife, the former Linda L. Boland, whom he married September 21, 1962; four daughters, Janie (Jeff) Beal of Paducah, KY, Cindy (Scott) Luman of Locust Grove, GA, Mindy (Tom) Shirilla of Youngstown, and Heather (Jeff) Street of Boardman; son-in-law, Larry Brammer of Boardman; brother-in-law, Joe (Pattie) Boland of Struthers; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Missy Brammer, who was Mindy's identical twin sister.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Lockwood United Methodist Church, 4570 Lockwood Blvd. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. the church.
The family would like to thank the staffs of the Cleveland Clinic NICU, Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman, St. Elizabeth Health Center Rehabilitation Department, and Pembrooke Nursing Home for all the kindness, compassion, and care given to Terry.
