EAST LIVERPOOL - Tammy Grimm Dunkel, 44, of Struthers, (formerly of East Liverpool), died Sunday morning at her Struthers residence.
Tammy was born Jan. 17, 1967, in Youngstown, a daughter of David and Patricia Toth Grimm.
Tammy was raised in Poland and was a 1985 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, where she played flute and was a majorette in the band. After graduation she worked as a as a medical transcriptionist for St. Elizabeth Health Center and for numerous doctors' offices in the area. For the past three years Tammy worked from her home.
Tammy was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chester, W.Va., where she was in the choir. Tammy loved the Minnesota Vikings and amusement parks (especially Idora Park), but most of all she loved her two pugs, Bumper and Maggie. Tammy was also an avid reader, and had a huge heart. She loved her family and friends and her first concern was for others.
Besides her parents of Lowellville, Tammy leaves her husband, Karl Dunkel, whom she married April 6, 1991; one sister, Kimberly Slattery of Youngstown; mother-in-law, Mira Dunkel of Youngstown; sister-in-law, Karen (James) Caruso of Youngstown; former brother-in-law, Pat Slattery of Poland; two nephews, Patrick Slattery and James Caruso; two nieces, Taylor Slattery and Carina Caruso; and numerous aunts and uncles. Growing up and throughout her life, she shared a special bond with her uncle, Gary Grimm.
Tammy was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Karl Dunkel, as well as her grandparents, Eugene and Matilda Grimm and Louis and Eileen McLaughlin Toth.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers with Pastor Ron Elkins officiating.
Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
