Poland - Suzanne L. Turocy, 91, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Hospice House.
Mrs. Turocy was born November 8, 1920 in Youngstown, a daughter of Paul and Suzanne (Dunchko) Kacvinsky.
She was among the first graduating class from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1939. Mrs. Turocy worked as a beautician at McKelveys and Strouss in their downtown locations. She married her husband, George, on December 16, 1944, while he was still in the Army.
Mrs. Turocy was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church since 1950 and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Poland KCettes. For one of the Knights of Columbus ladies group fundraisers, she led a project of making a quilt for their raffle. Mrs. Turocy was a great seamstress, knitter, and rug maker. For over 50 years, Sue belonged to a craft group of close friends that developed into a card group as the ladies became senior citizens.
Her husband of 53 years, George E. Turocy, died on August 31, 1997. She leaves her daughter, Suzanne Hubbard of Clear Lake Shores, TX; two sisters, Helen Gresko of Austintown and Bette Petrella of Canfield; brother, Jerry Kacvinsky of Canfield; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisbeth S. Forrest; sister, Catherine "Tattie" Androsek; and her brother, Paul Kacvinsky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the Mass.
