Poland - Susan A. Fain, 90, of Poland, died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at her daughter's home in Struthers.
Mrs. Fain was born January 8, 1919 in Belmont County, Ohio, a daughter of Mike and Anna Gunto Ponchak.
Mrs. Fain worked for the Poland Middle School as a cook and also was an excellent short order cook at the Bowl-A-Drome in Struthers.
She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church and the Poland Band Parents for over 16 years. Mrs. Fain enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and bowling on various leagues along with the church's league. She also loved nature and enjoyed watching the squirrels, geese, and other wildlife at Lake Hamilton.
Her husband, William H. Fain, whom she married May 15, 1935, died June 3, 1979. She leaves five daughters, Sarah Coates of Bonita Springs, Florida, Dolores (Charles) Zins of Poland, Darlene Enke of Struthers, Diane (Lee) Ingold of Struthers, and Connie Mount of Poland; two sons, Larry (Linda) Fain of North Lima and Roger (Mary Jane) Fain of Port Orange, Florida; a sister, Sarah Silvus of Beverly, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, William H. and James E. Fain; four brothers, Mike, Andy, Wes, and William; three sisters, Mary, Eve, and Annie; and three grandchildren, Connie Sue Fain, Charles Zins, and Billy Allen.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland with Rev. Gary Rozier officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.
Friends will be received Friday from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 9-9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Fain's family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the nurses, aides, and physical therapy staff at Beeghly Oaks and Hospice of the Valley for the wonderful care given to her.
