Steve Soroka, 80 Canfield- Steve Soroka, 80, of Briarfield Manor, formerly of Como Street in Struthers, died Tuesday morning at the Manor. Mr. Soroka was born March 28, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of Daniel and Mary Mondik Soroka. He lived in Youngstown before moving to Struthers in 1962. He was founder and president of J&S Aluminum, Inc., on Bev Road in Boardman and later went into partnership with his brother Daniel Soroka. Mr. Soroka was a member of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Youngstown and was a Navy Veteran serving in Italy during WWII. He was a lover of music and as a young man played the accordion with various bands in the area. He also enjoyed astronomy. Mr. Sorokaâa�a��s wife, the former Margaret Ann Bayus whom he married August 8, 1947 died August 1986. He leaves his two daughters, Terry Lynn Soroka and Stephanie Ann Kovach and son-in-law Gary Kovach all of Canfield; one sister, Helen Nezbola of Austintown; and three brothers, Daniel Soroka of Canfield, William Soroka of Boardman and John Soroka of Cornersburg. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Soroka was preceded in death by one sister, Julia Smyczynski and one brother Mike Soroka. Funeral services will be Saturday, 9:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and 10:00 AM at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home where a prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 PM. Condolences may be sent at www.beckerobits.com .
