Mission Viejo, California - Steve Rusnak, 95 of Mission Viejo, California, formerly of Struthers died Friday morning August 30, 2019 at the Orange Coast Medical Center in Fountain Valley, California. Mr. Rusnak was born July 29, 1924 in Campbell, a son of Michael and Mary (Nagy) Rusnak. He lived in Struthers, most of his life.
He attended Campbell Memorial High School and had worked for the City of Struthers Street and Parks department and had been the Parks Department superintendent. Mr. Rusnak had also been an owner with Independent Radio Taxi Company. He was a member of the "Greatest Generation" , proudly serving in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Rusnak had been a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers. He was a member of the Knight's of Columbus, 4th degree and had been the past Grand Knight.
His first wife, the former Veronica Gbur died February 2, 1950. His second wife, Kathryn Necko died February 7, 2005.
He leaves three sons, Stephen Rusnak of Virgina Beach, VA., Vincent (Janet) Rusnak of Poland, and Robert (Kathryn) Rusnak of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Diana (Ralph) Myers and Roberta Tirabassi, both of Mission Viejo, California; three sisters, Irene Chrislip of San Clemente, CA., Margaret Chuparkoff of Copley, OH., and Regina Yurick of Struthers; seven grandchildren, Thomas Rusnak, Laura Rusnak, Michael Tirabassi, Christine Tirabassi Hahn, Jennifer Tirabassi Budlong, Brigette Myers Whiman, and Grahm Rusnak; six great-grandchildren, Luke, Rose and William Tirabassi and Beau and June Budlong, and Abigail Rusnak and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Sajnovsky and Helen Van Such; four brothers, Emery, Michael, George and Ronald Rusnak, and a son-in-law, Randy Tirabassi.
When Steve relocated to Mission Viejo, California in 2013, he resided with Roberta and also was cared for by Diana and Ralph. No doubt the attention and love of his children and time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren during these years were a great source of comfort and joy and aided his longevity.
Steve enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, billiards, and playing the slots at Pala Casino. Always driven by the need to tinker, he would attempt to fix anything he thought needed repair, even if it didn't need it. A man of great faith to the end, Steve believed in the power of the Rosary throughout his life, and was an avid viewer of religious programs on the Ecumenical Channel in his last years.
