Boardman - Stella Marie Pappada, 80, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Stella was born January 17, 1935 in Warren, daughter of the late Michael and Sadie Steblecki Michalovich.
She was a 1953 graduate of Warren Harding High School. Stella was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, the Niles Softball League, Lincoln Elementary PTA in Niles and the Boardman Salem Investment Club. Stella worked side by side with her husband, Nick at Dilt's Pharmacy for 25 years, retiring in 2000. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan and loved spending time at The Rivers Casino and The Meadows playing cards. She hand knitted her famous Christmas stockings for all of her family and friends, and was loved and known by all as "Grandma Stella". She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Atlantis in The Bahamas. Stella loved spending time with her family and never missed any of her seven grandchildren's events.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Nicholas Pappada; three daughters, Niki (Rich) Pipak, Maria (Ralph) Ryhal and Melinda Franko; seven grandchildren, Maria, Teresa and Richard Pipak, Cory and Andrea Ryhal, Jason (Alese) Franko and Julie Franko; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Leo Franko; two brothers, Frank Michalovich, Mike Mayner and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Tomazin, Helen Hrusovsky and Mary Jo Pardue and her brothers, John Mayner and William Michalovich.
Prayer services will begin on Saturday at 9:15am at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10am at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave. Youngstown, OH, 44507 with the Rev. Fr. Gregory Maturi as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Niles Union Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Friday from 4-7pm at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home.
