Struthers-Sophie Schnell, 93, passed away Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born on Oct. 22, 1919, to Joseph and Mary Milih Bacic in Midland, Pennsylvania.
Sophie graduated from Mt. Jackson High School in Mt. Jackson, PA in May of 1935 and graduated from Youngstown College. She worked at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube office for 4 years and for Buick Youngstown Employment Office. During WWII, she worked with the gas and food rationing offices in Youngstown.
Sophie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers and belonged to it's Women's Group.
Her husband, Frederick Schnell, whom she married July 5, 1942 passed away Oct. 18, 1997.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Pamela Schnell and Thomas F. Schnell, both of Struthers; and two grandchildren; a special friend, Patty Genova of Youngstown; and Larry the cat.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John from Kansas, and William and Richard of Struthers, and two sisters, Amelia "Millie" Dill from Struthers and Ann Ketish of Finleyville, PA.
Funeral Services will be Monday at 11AM at Christ Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Home Cemetery in Youngstown.
Friends and family will be received from 10-10:45AM at the church.
