New Springfield - Shirley A. Giura, 66, passed away, unexpectedly on Friday, November 18, 2016. She was born March 5, 1950 in Youngstown, daughter of Steve and Jacquie DeMarco Dobos.
Shirley was a 1968 graduate of Ursuline High School and graduated from YSU in 1993 with a degree in English. She was employed at the Catholic Exponent as a reporter and writer and also worked at CCA Graphics as a designer and was an instructor at ITT, where she taught composition writing. Shirley was very artistic, creative and had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren and was also an animal lover.
She leaves her husband, Thomas Giura, whom she married in 1969; four children, Mara Stevens, Thomas Giura Jr, Jill (Joe) DeRamo and Rita (fiancé Andrew) Giura; eight grandchildren, Cody, Dominic and Anthony DeRamo, Zak, Josh and Luke Stevens and Connor and Abigail Jones; her father Steve Dobos; and two brothers, Scott and Stephen Dobos.
She was preceded in death her Mother, Jacquie Dobos, Grandmother, Mary Zupko and son-in-law, Daniel Stevens.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 10143 Main St. New Middletown, OH 44442. Interment will follow in Lake Park Cemetery.
