Youngstown - Shirley Anne Boulton, 88, of Youngstown, died Thursday afternoon, December 7, 2017 at Park Vista now known as Ohio Living.
Shirley was born May 19, 1929 in Youngstown, a daughter of Cleaver and Gladys Spaite Mackall.
Raised in Struthers, Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Struthers High School. Shirley always considered Struthers her home, but she also lived in Berlin Center and Poland prior to moving to Naples, Fl. in 1992. In 2000 she returned to the area and resided in Boardman.
Shirley worked as a teller for Dollar Bank in Boardman and in 1971 decided to pursue her license in practical nursing. She graduated from the Hannah Mullins School of Nursing in Salem in 1973 and immediately went to work at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She retired in 1986 after 15 years of service.
Shirley was an active volunteer for numerous organizations including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and Hospice of the Valley. She was an organizer of social activities in the community and her own family's reunion. Over the years Shirley attended Bethel Friends Church in Poland.
Shirley's husband, Homer Boulton whom she married July 11, 1947 died August 7, 1986. She leaves three grandchildren; three nieces Marilyn McGowan of Boardman, Cheryl Van Cleve of San Diego, and Diane Lewis, a missionary in Cambodia; six nephews, Don Mounsey of Lorraine, John Mounsey of Youngstown, Bud Linebaugh of San Diego, Daniel Linebaugh of Texas, Rick Mackall of Girard, Bob Mackall of Fl; and several great-grandchildren; and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Sines; son, James Homer Boulton; infant son, Charles Homer Boulton; three sisters, Wilma Connolly, Sonia Mounsey, and Mabel Lewis; one brother, Robert Mackall; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday evening at 7:00 pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers with Pastor Brian Etheridge officiating. Friends may call Monday from 5:00 pm until 6:45 pm at the funeral home. A dinner will follow at the Becker Family Center.
