Sgt Jasper Slaughter was born to Eugene & Roxie Slaughter on August 27th 1932 in Youngstown, OH. He attended South High School. Jasper served in the United States Army for 27 years where he retired with an honorable discharge. He married Lola in 1985 and shortly thereafter Jasper accepted Christ in 1986. He lived in Cleveland and worked at United Steel for many years, Interstate for several years and Jasper also worked for the County before he finally retired in 1994. He and his wife relocated to Struthers, OH in 2009 where they became members of High Pointe Church. Jasper was eldest of six siblings and a loving and caring father, grandfather and dedicated husband. Jasper was called home on Friday, January 7, 2011.
He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife Lola Slaughter, son William (Robin) Englemon, Latonya (Lorenzo) Slaughter-Rose, and youngest son Arnie Slaughter, Aunt Curly Williams, eight grandchildren, three great grand children, one brother Eugene (Novella) Slaughter, three sisters Jean, Mamie and Francis, and a host of nieces, nephews relatives in laws and friends.
Proceeding him in death: father and mother Eugene & Roxie Slaughter , sister Pauline Sanders and two sons Jasper Alan and Kevin Slaughter.
Family and friends will received friends Friday from 9:00 - 11:00 am at the High Pointe Church, 5716 Struthers Road Lowellville, OH 44436, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown with full Military Honors.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
