Sarah Ann Wallace Knapp, of Ithaca, NY passed away June 1, 2013 at the age of 86 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 9,1926, the daughter of William W. Wallace and Edith C. Wallace. Sarah, known as Sally by all who knew her, was a graduate of Beaver High School in Beaver, PA and Connecticut College for Women in New London, CT. Sally was a devoted and loving wife to Karl R. H. Knapp for 54 years and a wonderful and selfless mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sally was employed at La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA for over 20 years and received the Silver Service Award in 1990. Her love for God was reflected in her life and was an active member of the Church of Our Savior in Glenshaw, PA where she participated in the altar guild, vestry and started the youth group. She was also a representative for a number of conventions in the Pittsburgh Episcopal diocese. She was an active member of the Glenshaw Garden Club and participated in the Meals on Wheels program in the Pittsburgh area. She is survived by her children Karl R. H. Knapp II (Tracy J. Knapp), Deborah W. Hattery (Michael R. Hattery), William W. W. Knapp, and Mary E. P. Knapp; grandchildren: Rebekah A. Prasad (Dr. Paritosh Prasad), Sarah E. Wallis (Graham Wallis), Michael E. C. Hattery and Kaitlin J. Werring; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth S. Prasad and Michael K. Prasad. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday June 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery, 344 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, OH 44502. Officiating the funeral service is Reverend Joseph Martin of Church of Our Savior of Glenshaw, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to please make donations in her name to Elfinwild Home Meals, 3200 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116.
