Boardman - Sarah G. "Jean" Grimm, 90, died early Monday morning, February 9, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Grimm, affectionately known as "Jean," was born April 25, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Edward and Jennie Briggle Porter.
A graduate of East High School, Mrs. Grimm worked as a merchandise manager for the women's department at J.C. Penney, retiring after 28 years of service.
She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, the Boardman YMCA and a former member of Salem Hills, where she enjoyed golfing. An animal lover, Sarah enjoyed her many years of companionship with her beloved West Highland Terrier, Abby.
Her husband, Gallus "Jack" Grimm, whom she married on August 11, 1943, preceded her in death on July 9, 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Grimm of Boardman and Beth (Edward) Macabobby of Poland; a son, Gary (Barbara) Grimm of Canfield; a brother, Earl Porter of Canfield; a granddaughter, Tara (fiance Christopher Hoffman) Bunyoff of New Springfield; and six step-grandchildren, Jason Macabobby, Josh Macabobby, Jeffrey Macabobby, Laurie Zoldan, Amy Barnes, and Zachary Zimmer.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Higbee and her brother, Edward Porter.
A prayer service will be held Thursday at 12:15 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church with Fr. Gerald DeLucia officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Grimm's name to Grace Hospice, 7206 Market St., Suite B, Boardman, OH 44512.
