Sara Jane Stumpo, 81, of Poland, went home to our Lord and Savior on August 3, 2014.
Sara was born September 30, 1932 in Monaca, PA, a daughter of John and Mary Rill Theil.
She later moved to Leetonia, Ohio and graduated from Leetonia High School in 1950. She married her high school sweetheart, Alfred L. Stumpo, on October 7, 1950.
Sara retired from the Youngstown Public Library in 1992. She was a former member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Poland where she was active in the Pop Overs and the sewing group. A member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown, Sara was active in the Creative Women's Group and participated in the Annual Bazaar at the church.
Sara loved to crochet and made hundreds of afghans in her lifetime most of which were gifts to family, friends and charities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, a brother John "Jack" Theil, and her parents John and Mary Theil.
Sara leaves to cherish her memory; daughters, Jane Stumpo, Karen (Bill) Pahanish, Mary Jo Stumpo, and Shari Simko; three sisters, Ester Hallaman, Mary Ann (John) Morgan and Susan (Bill) Snyder; a brother Robert Theil; three grandchildren, Sara (Lynn) Campbell, Melanie Cooke and Michael Simko; six great -grandchildren, Brianna Campbell, Tyler Campbell, Brayden Campbell, Rozaria Baldwin, Dominic McMutry and Dimitri McMutry.
Sara will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity and her love of her family and the Lord.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 11:00 am at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Klinker officiating. Interment will follow at the Leetonia Oakdale Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Cunningham- Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street, Poland and Thursday from 10-10:45 am at the church.
