Struthers - Sara Marie Lance, 11, of Struthers, went home to be with the Lord at 12:15 p.m. on July 23, 2009 after a 3-year battle with brain cancer.
Sara was born July 7, 1998 in Youngstown, a daughter of David and Linda Whitfield Lance, Jr.
Sara attended Struthers Elementary School and was home schooled for the past year.
She was a member of Christ Community Church in Campbell, where she was involved with the children's group KIDMO. Sara had a lovely voice and enjoyed singing, particularly Christian music. Sara's love for Jesus and joy of life will continue to live on in the hearts of all that loved her.
She is survived by her parents, David and Linda Lance, Jr. of Struthers; her brother and sister, Adam and Elizabeth Lance, both at home; maternal grandparents Kathryn and William Whitfield of Berlin Center; paternal grandmother, Sandra Lance of Lake Milton and paternal grandfather, David Lance Sr. of Florence, SC; and her paternal great-grandmother, Esther Snyder of Newton Falls.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 531 Neoka Dr. in Campbell, with Pastor Bill Rotar officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Sara's name to the Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, Pediatric Division of Neuro-Oncology Department, RBC-6054, 11100 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland 44106.
