Samuel E. Boyd, Sr., 67 Boardman- Samuel E. Boyd Sr., 67, of 188 Meadowbrook Ave., died of cancer early Wednesday morning at his residence. Mr. Boyd was born February 2, 1936 in Youngstown, a son of Kenneth and Marguerite Chandler Boyd Sr. He attended The Rayen School and later received his G.E.D. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1955 until 1957 and then from 1960 until 1969. He was a weemer for General Motors fabricating plant for 31 years retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Amvets, the Salem VFW and the Eagles Fraternal Order #3298. Mr. Boyd was a model train enthusiast and was artistic, using his talents in painting and woodworking. In his free time he loved to garden. Besides his wife the former Doris âa�A"Sueâa�A� Carlson whom he married January 19, 1955 and in August 26, 1966, he leaves three daughters, Georgianne (Larry) Denny of Canfield, Debra (Dr. William) Wentz-Joyner of Raleigh, North Carolina and Roberta (Kevin) Cabuno-Blevins of Boardman; one son, Samuel E. Boyd, Jr., of Canfield; one sister, Shirley Cormell of Port St. Lucy, Florida; two brothers, Kenneth Boyd of Niles, William Boyd of Oregon and four granddaughters, Julianne and Christen Denny and Caitlin and Devon Cabuno.. Besides his parents and step-father Robert Stewart, one brother Robert Boyd and a sister Mildred Richards preceded him in death. He also leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:00 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home Struthers. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 PM and Saturday from 9:45 until 10:45 at the funeral home.
