Sam W. DiCioccio, Jr., 72 Poland- Sam W. DiCioccio Jr., 72, of Country Lane, died early Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mr. DiCioccio was born December 30, 1933 in Campbell, the son of Sam Sr. and Marie Nuzzo DiCioccio. He was raised in Struthers and moved to Poland in 1969. A 1951 graduate of Struthers High School, Mr. DiCioccio served in the United States Navy, on the USS Intrepid in the Mediterranean during the Korean Conflict. He attended Youngstown State University and was a Mechanical Engineer for over 40 years retiring from Thomas Steel Strip in Warren as Director of Maintenance in 1996. He had a love for flying and was a private pilot with an instrument rating. He was a member of the A.O.P.A., Poland Masonic Lodge F&AM 766, American Trapshooting Association, Lowellville Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed Fly Fishing. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Ellen Patterson whom he married November 28, 1953; one daughter, Cindy (Robert) Aurand of New Albany, Ohio; one son, Michael DiCioccio of Akron; and five grandchildren, Lindsay and Michael DiCioccio, and Robert, William and Elizabeth Aurand. Mr. DiCioccio was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11:00 AM at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home Poland and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the Church.
