Sally Ann Chapin, 59, of Boardman, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 23, 2019, surrounded by her family at St. Elizabeth Health Center after a short battle with cancer.
Sally was born April 27, 1960 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Patricia Hanni.
Raised in Poland, Sally was a 1978 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. Over the years she worked for a group of pathologists at St. Elizabeth and St. Joseph Hospitals. Afterwards, Sally spent her time at home raising her daughter Emily and their dog, Sampson.
Sally loved life. She went to the beat of her own drum, dancing the whole time. She undoubtedly danced her way into Heaven. She had a green thumb and loved working in her flower garden. She was very artistic and enjoyed crafting projects with her father and refinishing furniture. Sally was a caregiver to her family and was a wonderful wife, mom, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves her mother, Patricia Hanni of Poland; her husband, Chris Chapin, whom she married June 29, 1991; one daughter, Emily Chapin and Parker Johnson of Boardman; two sisters, Cathy (Joe) Genova and Patty McGarry all of Poland; two nieces, Madison Genova and Megan (Matt) Hilling; her best friend, Wally Huziak; and her cat, Oliver.
Sally was preceded in death by her father, John W. Hanni; in-laws, Robert and Charlotte Chapin; and her brother-in-law, Robert McGarry. Sally awaits meeting on the rainbow bridge to Heaven her best four legged friend, Sampson.
Sally's family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the staff, especially Lorri, John, Ralph and Nicole of Select Specialty Care Hospital at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
A Prayer Service will be held Saturday, 9:15 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Poland.
Friends will be received Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
