Ruthann Hvizdos, 74, of Poland, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in the Hospice House following a courageous seven year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on February 8, 1940 in Youngstown to the late Harry and Mary Bowers Sharp, and relocated to Poland when she was three years old.
Ruthann graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1958 and in 1959 began her career with Hill, Barth and King CPAs and Consultants, where she worked for almost 50 years. She holds the company record for longevity.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Paul, whom she married on July 14, 1962; son Jeffrey; daughter-in-law Kimberly; grandchildren, Michael and Amanda; brother-in-law Gary; nephews, Kevin, Eric, Galen, Garry and Timothy; nieces, Ruthann and Karen and cousins, Jim and Thelma Bowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Kling.
Ruthann loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking trips to Geneva-on-the-Lake to their summer home. She enjoyed gardening, doing yardwork, mowing the grass, watching Turner Classic Movies, doing lighthouse puzzles and going to dinner with her cousins.
Ruthann and Paul celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012 by taking a trip to Hawaii with their family.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at University Hospitals in Cleveland and the Hospice House for the wonderful care given to Ruthann.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5-7:45pm in the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St. Struthers, OH 44471. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 8pm in the funeral home, with the Rev. Fr. Chris Luoni officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Ruthann's name, to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd, Poland, OH 44514.
