Struthers - Ruth L. Martin, 84, died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Oasis Healthcare.
Mrs. Martin was born June 2, 1930 in Youngstown, a daughter of Arthur and Harriet Thomas Smith.
She was a 1948 graduate of North High School. In her early years she worked at Strouss Department Store before raising her family.
She was a member of the YMCA where she went regularly.
Ruth was a very caring person, having taken care of her son, Charles who battled MS and also her husband, John.
Her husband, John E. Martin, whom she married Sept. 8 1950, died Nov. 7, 1977.
She is survived by five sons, John E, Martin Jr. of Youngstown, Robert J. Martin of Youngstown, Danny R. Martin of Lowellville, David A. (Lisa) Martin of Hurst, TX, George R. (Sue) Martin of Struthers; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacquelyn, Daniel Jr., Malorie, Christine, Kristin, David Jr., Jessica, Kyle, John, and Shannon; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Moore of Tampa, FL.
Besides her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by one son, Charles; four brothers, Arthur Smith, Edward Smith, Johnny Smith, and Robert Smith; and one sister, Harriet Larson.
Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday from 4-7PM and Thursday 10-10:45AM at the funeral home.
