New Middletown - Ruth Ann Lavin, 80, of New Middletown, died February 18, 2011 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Mrs. Lavin was born July 4, 1930 in East Palestine, a daughter of Walter and Edith Pugh Lowry.
She attended Struthers High School and worked as a Postal Clerk for the United States Post Office in Struthers.
Mrs. Lavin was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Lavin's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was noted by many for her sense of humor and she enjoyed crocheting, sharing many of her creations with family and friends throughout the years.
Her husband, Edward Lavin, whom she married January 2, 1947, died June 6,1995. She leaves two daughters, Becky (Ken) Marapese of Struthers and Bridget (Dan) Romeo of Poland; two sisters, Dorothy Morrow and Doris Balluck, both of New Middletown; six grandchildren, Allicyn (Dominic) Tocco of Poland, Adriana (Tim) Kane of Columbus, Natalie Romeo of Poland, Kenneth Lavin Jr. of Columbus, Lauren Lavin of New York City, and Stacey (Matthew) Miller of Poland; four great grandsons, Nico and Gianni Tocco and Matthew and Michael Miller; daughter-in-law, Gloria Lavin of Poland; step-brother, David Claypoole of New Middletown; and a sister-in-law, Ida Cella of Niles.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Lavin; and an infant daughter, Nancy Lavin.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Interment will follow at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 5-8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lavin's family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thank the staff of the Masternick Memorial Health Care Center for the wonderful care, love, and kindness shown to Ruth.
