Ruth LaVerne Anderson Fergus,82 Boardman-Ruth LaVerne Anderson Fergus passed away Friday March 11, 2005 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on May 19, 1922, a daughter of Conrad A. and Elizabeth D. Evans Anderson. She was a graduate of Rayen High School. Mrs. Fergus worked in the offices of Anderson Suburban Delivery, and later for the G. M. McKelvey Company. Ruth was very proud of both her Swedish and Welsh heritage, the later having given her the blessing of a musical talent. Both her mother and grandparents came to Youngstown from Wales and were lovers of voice and good music. Her grandfather, John Perry Evans played harp throughout the Youngstown area in the early 1900âa�a��s. Her father, a Swedish immigrant started the Anderson Suburban Delivery, which delivered packages for the major downtown department stores such as McKelveyâa�a��s, Strouss, and Livingstonâa�a��s. Most of all, Ruthâa�a��s home was her castle and she was most happy when her family surrounded her there. She leaves her husband, , John M. Fergus, a retired member of the Youngstown Fire Department, whom she married October 25,1947; a daughter, Susan (David) Marshman of Mentor, OH; a son, Jack Fergus of Naples, FL; two grandchildren, Anne Michelle and Jonathan David Marshman, both of Mentor; and several nieces and nephews; and her dear friends in Naples, Florida. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Edwin Anderson.
