Ruth Virginia Burkette

Boardman- Ruth Virginia Burkette, 88, of Boardman, died Thursday, December 13, 2007. Mrs. Burkette was born January 6, 1919 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of John W. and Edna L. Mathey Osborne. A graduate of Boardman High School, Mrs. Burkette worked as a receptionist in several medical offices in the area before going on to receive her LPN license. She worked as an LPN at Forum Health Northside Hospital for 16 years. Mrs. Burkette was a member of the Boardman United Methodist Church. Her husband, Randall Burkette, whom she married April 20, 1940, preceded her in death on June 15, 1986. She leaves her daughter, Carolyn (Steve) Berliner of Venice, CA; her son, Randall Burkette, Jr. of Hartford, WI; two sisters, Ethel (Robert) Richards and Gertrude Simpson, both of Poland; a brother, Harold (Marie) Osborne of Boardman; and four grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Burkette was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Gilchrist and Helen Soja. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with the Rev. Ash Welsh officiating. Interment will be in Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
