BOARDMAN - Ruth H. Barsch, 99, passed away on Oct. 26, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center from acute respiratory failure. Ruth will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Ruth was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Waukesha, Wis., a daughter of Otto and Ruth Duecker.
She grew up and graduated from high school in Milwaukee, where she met her husband, Roland. During their 49 years of marriage, they enjoyed raising their two children, camping, boating and traveling.
Ruth volunteered as the church organist for many years. In 1980, they retired to Horseshoe Bend, Ark. and spent many years swimming and pontooning on Crown Lake with friends and family.
In 2001, Ruth moved to the Boardman area, where she enjoyed reading, painting, and playing cards with her many friends.
Ruth was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Ruth is survived by her son, Bill Barsch (Barb); two grandsons, Jeff Barsch (Lynn) and their children, Jairica, Ambrose, and Alana Gayl; and Greg Barsch (Judie) and their daughter, Kailyn.
Ruth is also survived by her daughter, Lyn Grigsby (Burl), their daughters, Maria Grigsby, Signe Erickson, and Mary Bellard and seven grandchildren.
Also surviving her are her three siblings, Otto Duecker Jr., Enid Earle, and Richard Duecker; as well as her extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland in 1990, and her brother, Norman Duecker.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care received from the fourth floor south staff at St. Elizabeth, Hospice of the Valley, and the nurses and aides at Shepherd of the Valley.
A memorial service will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Although flowers are beautiful, Ruth has requested that donations be made to the Organ Fund at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, OH 44512.
Arrangements are being handled by the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman.
