Mineral Ridge - Russell A. Parish, 55, of Mineral Ridge, formerly of Campbell, died Thursday, October 14, 2010, at the Hospice House after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke.

Russ was born July 29, 1955 in Youngstown, a son of Jacob and Leda Berezowsky Parish.

He was a 1973 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and received a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University in electrical engineering. Russ worked as an electrical engineer for Rockwell Automation in Cleveland.

Russ had a deep passion for music and it was a large part of his life. At the age of eight, he began playing the guitar and became quite accomplished. He played guitar for the band Guys Without Ties for the last 18 years. Russ played at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was a guitarist in the church choir at St. Lucy Church, and had an incredible singing voice. He was also a member of the American Federation of Musicians.

Russ's wife, the former Deborah Sipus, whom he married May 1, 2004 will always cherish his memory along with his two stepdaughters, Ashley Myers of Laguna Niguel, CA and Chelsea Myers of New York, NY; a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Parish of Vienna; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jacob Parish.

A prayer service will be held Monday at 9:45 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lucy Church with Fr. John Trimbur officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.

Family and friends will be received Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Russ' name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
