Ruben "Mark" Porter, 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, February 21, 2018 at Assumption Village in North Lima.
Mr. Porter was born June 19, 1924 in Crestline, Ohio, a son of the late Roy and Bertha (Gavin) Porter.
Mr. Porter was a lifelong resident of Struthers and worked as a steelworker for Youngstown Sheet & Tube (LTV), retiring after 29 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of St. Anthony's Society in Struthers.
Mark was a talented artist and enjoyed playing the piano and trumpet. He also enjoyed playing golf, having nine holes-in-one in his lifetime.
His wife, the former Bessie Chelos, whom he married August 19, 1958, preceded him in death on March 8, 2008.
A special thank you to all of his friends at Bowery on Midlothian Blvd. who treated him like family especially the owner.
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Assumption Village for the wonderful compassion and care they gave him. Also to the Hospice of the Valley for their help and care.
Respecting his wishes there will be no calling hours. Private service was held and interment too place at Belmont Park Cemetery.
