Rose Sferra Schiraldi, 94, of Poland passed away on September 21, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Health Care, Boardman campus. She was born December 23, 1922 in New Castle, Pa., a daughter of Luigi and Carmella (Donofrio) Lepore and had been a lifelong area resident.

Rose was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville and was an active member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society and the Lowellville Senior Citizens. She received a lifetime service award for over 4,000 hours of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).

Rose had worked for several area florists where she learned flower arranging and had done flowers for numerous family weddings. She also crocheted many lap blankets, premie hats, and booties. She had also made Chemo hats for cancer patients and donated to nursing homes and hospitals. Rose also won ribbons at the Canfield Fair for her afghans. She could also play the harmonica and organ, which she loved to do at family gatherings on Christmas Eve. She was an avid Bingo player and had many friends wherever she played.

Her first husband, Frank J. Schiraldi, whom she married August 30, 1940 died March 3, 1985. Their children are Frank (Sally), William (Dorothy), and Madelyn (Joe) Suchora; grandchildren, Danielle (Fred) Zabonek, Tim (Katherine), Scott (Liza) Suchora, Brian Suchora, Cyndi (Bob) Agee, Mary Liz (Brad) Smith and Frank Schiraldi, and great-grandchildren, Zack and Sam Zabonek, Brandon, Vincent, and Josh Schiraldi, Tori, Ali, and Isabell Suchora, Logan and Chase and Reese, Agee and Sloane and Elise Smith.

Rose married Anthony Sferra November 1, 1991. He died February 17, 1998. Her step-sons are John and Anthony. She also leaves a stepdaughter, Dean Stack.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Lena; a brother, Albert, and three sisters, Olga Ezzo, Viola Mora, and Lena Paliadino.

A mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 a.m.  Monday September 25, 2017 at Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville and from 9:00 a.m.-9:45 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the church.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Garg and Dr. Lesnoski and the nursing staff on the fifth floor of St. Elizabeth’s in Boardman for all of their kindness and support.
