Rose Louise Evans

April 23, 1925 — January 2, 2016

New Middletown - Rose Louise Evans, 90, died on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was born April 23, 1925 in Point Marion, PA, daughter of the late, Lucien and Ruth Dunfee Smith.

She was employed as a salesperson for Hills Department Store for 26 years, retiring in 1987. Rose was a member of Margaret Wynn Memorial Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School Secretary for 30 years. She worked one day a week at the library at Springfield Local Schools for many years. Rose enjoyed gardening and cooking and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren..

She leaves her son, Ron (Nancy) Evans of Austintown; three grandchildren, Scott (Tara) Evans of Austintown, Gary (Jen) Evans of Austintown, Amy (Eric) Diefenderfer of Canfield; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, Brady, Anna and Madison Evans and Evan, Ashlyn and Jakob Diefenderfer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Evans who passed away on June 17, 2001 and her sisters, Patricia Sutton and Betty Hudson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11am at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St. Poland with Pastor Barry Knaub officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 5-7pm and prior to the service on Thursday from 10-10:45am at the funeral home.
