Lowellville - Rosaria Carchedi, 96, of Lowellville, died early Thursday morning, December 1, 2016 at Hampton Woods, surrounded by her family.

Rosaria was born October 31, 1920 in Filadelfia, Italy, a daughter of Joseph and Rosaria Servello Mazzotta. In 1939, as a young bride, Rosaria came to the United States and settled in Lowellville to raise her family.

A homemaker, Rosaria also worked as a cook for Isaly's Dairy in Lowellville for 13 years and then from 1970 until 1980 as a cook for the Lowellville School District.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville, where she served on the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Mount Carmel Society and the Lowellville American Legion Post #247 Ladies Auxiliary.

Rosaria was a wonderful cook and baker and was generous with sharing her recipes. Her pizza and bread were second to none. She loved playing Bingo, a friendly game of cards, and crocheting. Her family will cherish her afghans for many years. A baseball enthusiast, Rosaria was a fan of the New York Yankees. She was a faithful Catholic and said the rosary every morning. Rosaria was a devoted and proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Rosaria was married to Vito Carchedi on April 22, 1939 by her uncle, Msgr. Dominque Servello in the church of St. Barbara in Calabria, Italy. Vito passed away April 17, 1984, right before their 45th wedding anniversary. She leaves three sons, Frank (Edith) Carchedi of Brunswick, OH, Joseph (Barbara) Carchedi of Tonto Basin, AZ, and Vincent (Elaine) Carchedi of New Middletown, OH; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Tricia and Melissa, Robert, Tamara and Mark, and Monica and Gina; and twelve great-grandchildren, Zachary, Mikaela, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Audrina, Aaron, Vincent, Alexander, Lucas, Andrew, Matthew, and Elaine. She also leaves her two sisters-in-law, Irma and Nancy Carchedi.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rosaria was preceded in death by her half sister, Maria Mazzotta.

Rosaria's family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Hampton Woods for their wonderful care.
