Boardman-Rosanne (Barnes) Moreland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, with her daughter by her side.
Rosanne was born on September 30, 1921 and was 96 years old. She spent her childhood through her mid-twenties ballet and tap dancing. She and her sister Violet were known around Youngstown as the Barnes Sisters and performed around town at the Palace Theater and many other venues. Rosanne spent three summers studying dance in New York City in her teens.
She worked for 20 years as a secretary at the Youngstown Board of Education, retiring to travel with her husband Dewey, who worked for the Red Book. They especially loved traveling with his work in Texas. They had 62 wonderful years together. Rosanne was also a member of Eastern Star Miriam Chapter, where she served as Grand Matron.
Rosanne was preceded in death by her husband Dewey, her parents, her sister Violet Kane, and two nieces, Beth Pellin Edes and Deborah Ferranti.
She leaves behind her daughter, Pam Moreland of Willard, Ohio, her sister-in-law, Barbara Pellin, her niece and goddaughter, Pat (Chuck) Cooper, her niece, Diane LePaz, and her nephews, Tommy Kane, Mark Pellin, and David Pellin. Rosanne also had many great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. All guests in attendance are invited to the Becker Family Center following the service for fellowship and a meal. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family suggests that any memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
