Poland - Rosalie Roberta Maloney passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic. She was 100 years old.
Born on November 15, 1924 in Ashtabula, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (Massucci) Rich. Growing up in Ashtabula, Rosalie embraced her love of performance, notably serving as a drum majorette during her time at Ashtabula High School. Her passion for dance led her to a professional career, where she not only performed in Cleveland and New York City, but also shared her expertise by teaching dance to others. She belonged to the University of the Arts Chicago.
It was in Ashtabula that Rosalie met Eugene B. Maloney, the love of her life, during his visit to the area. Their connection blossomed, leading to their marriage on March 5, 1952. The couple's journey took them to Eugene's hometown of Lowellville for a short time before moving to Struthers and ultimately to Poland in 1967. Throughout these years, Rosalie devoted her time and love to being a dedicated homemaker and focused her time on raising her two daughters.
Besides her love for music and the arts, Rosalie found joy in collecting antiques, traveling, cooking, and gardening. Her culinary skills were enjoyed by many and her homemade spaghetti sauce and desserts amongst everyone's favorites. Rosalie's vibrant personality and sense of style made her a memorable presence. Always put together, she took great pride in looking her best and kept abreast of the latest fashion trends. Her energetic personality and enthusiasm inspired those around her, while her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on many.
Rosalie leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Sandra (Patrick) Gatta of Poland and Brenda (Jeffrey) Canada of Naples, FL; three grandchildren, Allison (Christian) van Dijk of Poland, Bradley (Kimberly) Canada of New Hope, PA and Ashton Canada of Los Angeles, CA.
In addition to her parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, on March 25, 2007; siblings, Tony Rich, Susan Gustafson, and Pat Rich; and her former husband, Clayton Kimes, and father to her first born daughter Sandra.
