Poland - Ronald Aden Cartmell, 63, of Poland, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center after complications from heart surgery. Ron was born August 9, 1944 in Logan, West Virginia, a son of Aden and Zola Tackett Cartmell. He was a graduate of Dawson Bryant High School in Coal Grove, Ohio and worked as a truck driver for various companies. Ron was a United States Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 472, the VFW Post No. 3538, and the Vietnam Wolf Hounds. He leaves two sisters, Mary Ervin of Ironton, OH and Glenda Smith of Flatwoods, KY; five brothers, Robert Cartmell of Coal Grove, OH, James Cartmell of Lake Milton, OH, Fred Cartmell of Reynoldsburg, OH, Loval Cartmell of Stockton, CA, and William Cartmell of Cape Coral, FL; a step-daughter, Julia (Bud) Davis of Leetonia, OH; three step-sons, Joseph (Pat) Moore of Newport News, VA, Thomas (Sharon) Moore of Struthers, OH, and William (Dawn Parrish) Moore of Kannapolis, NC; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 8 nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his significant other of 22 years, Nancy Moore; and his sister, Delores Jean. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Clarence "Bud" Davis officiating.
