Ronald R. Carrocce, 78, passed away on Saturday morning, September 24, 2016 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
Ronald, affectionately known as "Ron" was born August 3, 1938 in Youngstown, a son of Ralph and Irene Sugar Carrocce.
Raised in Youngstown, he was a 1957 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. In 1960, he bought his first truck and began operating R & J Trucking. Ron had a very strong work ethic and built his business over the years, which he was currently operating with 640 trucks and 14 terminals.
Ron was a member of the American Trucking Association and Trade Maintenance Council and St. Charles Borromeo Church.
Some of his interests included farming over 1200 acres in the Canfield and South Range areas, raising cattle, boating on Lake Milton, cars, ATVs, and dancing. Ron will always be remembered as being humble, generous, determined, and loving. A devoted family man, his happiest moments came from spending time with them.
In addition to his mother of Poland, Ron is survived by his wife the former Deborah Ashby, whom he married June 16, 2012; three sons, Mark (Sharon) Carrocce of Canfield, Troy (Melissa) Carrocce of Lake Milton, and Kevin (Allison) Carrocce of Canfield; brother, Gary (Lucinda) Carrocce of Canfield; three step-sons, Eric (Polly) Glass of Tracy, CA, Joshua (Angie) Horn of Las Vegas, and Justin (Heather) Horn of Austintown; step-daughter, Dawna (Shaun) Rappach of Youngstown; niece, Tiffany Carrocce of Canfield; and 17 grandchildren.
In addition to his father, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Carrocce.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 5 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman. A reception will follow the service at the church's banquet facility. Interment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Although flowers are beautiful, the family suggests that any memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Ron Carrocce Memorial Fund, 8063 Southern Blvd., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
