Ronald E. Benzenhoefer, 71, of Austintown died Sunday afternoon December 3, 2017. He was born May 24, 1946 in Poland, Ohio a son of LaVergne and Laura (Jones) Benzenhoefer and had been a lifelong area resident.
He had been a truck driver for Higg Trucking and served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Ohltown United Methodist Church. He owned a collection of classic cars and enjoyed attending car shows and taking road trips.
His wife, the former Margaret Johanna, died January 1, 2015.
He leaves two sons, Michael (Shannon) Benzenhoefer , and Ronald (Debbie) Benzenhoefer Jr. both of Struthers; his daughter, BeckyJo Benzenhoefer of Austintown; three brothers, David (Joyce) Benzenhoefer of Cransfils Gap, Texas, Gary (Anita) Benzenhoefer of Florence, Texas, and Kenneth Benzenhoefer of Cresson, Texas; two sisters, Ellen Sue (Russell) Schaefer of New Waterford, Ohio, and Ida (Bob) Swesey of New Springfield; a sister-in-law, Carol Benzenhoefer of Poland; a brother-in-law, Charles Meyers of Boardman; five grandchildren, Felicia, Andrew, Jena, Ashley, and Marisa; a great-grandson, Vincent, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Patricia, Charlotte, and Diana, as well as three brothers, Charles “Cappy”, Thomas “Tucker”, and Robert “Bob”.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday December 7, 2017 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland with Pastor Teresa Smolka officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A family burial will be held at a later date.
