Rolaan Waldman

Poland - Rolaan Waldman, 85, died December 21, 2023, at Wickshire of Poland. 

Rolaan was born June 17, 1938 in Paris, France, a daughter of Carl and Louise Tilly Schafer. She came to the United States in her twenties after marrying Roy Larson, who was stationed in France with the United States Army. Together, they had one daughter, Odile. Roy and Rolaan divorced and she later wed Arthur Waldman, who preceded her in death. 

Throughout her life, Rolaan worked in the nursing and accounting fields. In her leisure time, she loved walking in the woods, watching clouds, visiting Mill Creek's rose gardens, bird watching, reading to learn new things, and spending time with her grandchildren. Rolaan also loved taking trips to Lake Erie and the ocean because it reminded her of her youth in France, while being on her grandparents' farm by the shore in Brittany.   

Mrs. Waldman enjoyed being with people and made conversations wherever she went. A woman of faith, prayers and scriptures always seemed to bring her peace. 

Rolaan is survived by her daughter, Odile Liston of Struthers; grandchildren, Valerie (fiancé Michael) Larson of Austintown and Shane Larson of McDonald; and sisters, Anne Schafer-Donaty and Evelyne Weinaug of France. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Pordic Schafer.

A private graveside service will be held for the family at the Rodef Sholom Cemetery.
