Roger Harold Slater, 72 Youngstown- Roger Harold Slater, 72, of North Lima Road, died Saturday morning at his residence. Mr. Slater was born May 10, 1933 in Clarion, Pennsylvania, a son of Wayne and Esther Kahle Slater. He was raised in Clarion and came to this area in 1952. A 1951 graduate of Clarion High School, Mr. Slater attended Youngstown University and graduated Suma Cum Laude with a BA in Electrical Engineering in 1967. For 40 years he worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube and then LTV retiring as Director of Quality Assurance in 1992. After retirement he formed his own consulting company, Dawn International and wrote and published the book, Integrated Process Management. He was an active member of the Poland United Methodist Church and was a member of Certified Managers Organizations. Besides his wife, the former Shirley Rhea, whom he married November 7, 1952, he leaves two sons, Richard Slater of Youngstown and Daniel Slater of East Canton, Ohio; two sisters, Isabelle Caravan of Fulton, New York and Ruth Slater of Brookville, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Harry Slater of Shippenville, Pennsylvania and Richard Slater of Sierra Vista, Arizona; six grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen, Ian, Denise, Danielle, and Brandon; and one great-grandson, Dillon. Besides his parents, Mr. Slater was preceded in death by one daughter, Dawn Withers, one sister, Anita Slater and one brother, Wilbur Slater. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11:00 AM at the Poland United Methodist Church. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Tuesday from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM at the Church.
