Columbiana - Roger Patrick Filban, Jr., 69, of Columbiana, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Hampton Woods. Roger was born November 3, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Roger and Madalyn Colavitas Filban, Sr. He was a 1957 graduate of Struthers High School and attended electronics school in Chicago. Roger then went to work for Wean United Engineering until they closed. He then worked for General Fireproofing as a machinist until his retirement in 1982. Roger was a former member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Youngstown. His hobbies included fishing and golfing. His first wife, the former Patricia Miller, whom he married May 14, 1960, died July 11, 1991. He leaves his second wife, the former Betty Duriga, whom he married February 10, 1996; two daughters, Rochelle (Randy) Cole of Struthers and Nadyne (Michael) Taylor of Cambridge, Mass.; a step-daughter, Dorene (Lynn) White of Columbiana; a sister, Rosemarie Hunter of Akron; six grandchildren, Ashley, Billy, Cearah, Ava, BJ, and Dylan; and his little buddy, Blackjack, the dog. Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Filban. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown. Friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:15-9:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Please visit
