Poland - Rodger T. Danvir, 76, formerly of Austintown, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at his home.
Rodger was born on November 10, 1947 in New Kensington, PA, a son of the late Thomas and Mary (Langham) Danvir.
He was a 1965 graduate of New Kensington High School and attended Robert Morris University, until enlisting in the United States Army in 1967. After being honorably discharged in 1970, he relocated to Austintown, OH, and accepted a position with General Motors. He dedicated 36 years of service to the company, retiring in 2006.
In retirement, Rodger enjoyed boating on Berlin Lake, golfing at Reserve Run, watching reruns of the Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and especially babysitting his grandsons as they were growing up.
Rodger was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church.
Rodger leaves to carry on his memory, his wife, Carol Walsh Danvir, whom he married May 17, 2013; children, Todd Danvir of Denver, CO and Melissa (Nick) Bartholomew of Boardman; stepdaughters, Jennifer (Tom) Downie of Poland and Julie Walsh of Struthers; grandchildren, Cooper and Logan Bartholomew; step granddaughter, Jordan Downie; brother, Richard (Jan) Danvir of Florida; and his former wife and mother of his children, Marie Holka Danvir of Cheswick, PA.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m., at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield.
