A memorial service to celebrate the life of Robert W. Jones will be held at Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor, on Saturday at noon. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 11-11:45 a.m., prior to the memorial service. A private burial took place at the Poland Riverside Cemetery prior to the memorial service.

Robert W. "Bob" Jones was born on February 25, 1921, to L. Calvin and Marie Dingledy Jones. Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ritchie Harper; their three children, Susan, Calvin (Valerie) and Martha (George) Ambrose; three grandchildren, Christopher, Laura and Joseph; and 6 great-grandchildren. Bob was the fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Richard and David.

Bob attended Dean Academy, Kent State University and Ohio State University. During WW II, Bob served in the U. S. Army for 5 years as a Sergeant in the 4th Regiment Army Ground Forces. In 1948, Bob joined his father and his brother Dick at the L. Calvin Jones & Co., from which he retired as President in 1981. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Savings and Loan.

Bob was active in many community organizations throughout his life. He served as a trustee of the Choffin Trust, on the Boards of Directors of Good Will Industries, Meals on Wheels and Children’s Services of Mahoning County, Treasurer of the Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens during the construction of the present Davis Center, and as Mahoning County grand jury foreman. Especially meaningful to Bob was his membership in the Poland Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
