Robert Franklin Stroup, 77 Poland- Robert Franklin Stroup, 77, of 6216 Navajo Place, Poland, died Monday morning at his residence. Mr. Stroup was born September 19, 1925 in Warren, a son of Marion E. and Alice Davies Stroup. He was a life-long area resident coming to Struthers in 1931 and to Poland in 1950. He was 1943 graduate of Struthers High School and after serving in WWII attended Naval Officer Training in Auburn, Alabama. During World War II he served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre in Okinowa. He was regional manager for Hills Department Store retiring in 1988 after 23 years of service. He was a member of the Hillman Lodge #481 F&AM and a 32nd Degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church Besides his wife the former, Edith Stroup whom he married August 19, 1947, he leaves one daughter, Kimberly (David) Conzett of Hubbard; one son, Robert Thomas (Penni) Stroup of Leesburg, Ohio; four grandchildren, Alicia Graves, Kathryn, Diana and Christian Conzett and three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alec and Logan Graves. Funeral Services will be Thursday, 3:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call Thursday from 12:30 until 2:30 PM where a Masonic service will be held at 2:30 PM.
