Boardman - Robert Easton Steck, 80, died May 7, 2016 in Hospice of the Valley Hospice House. He was born June 21, 1935 in Hubbard, to the late VC Steck and Maude Theresa Easton Steck and was a 1953 graduate of Boardman High School.
Robert was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and continued his membership at Canfield Presbyterian Church when the two merged. He served as a Deacon and Elder at the church and was a member of the Men's Group, Thursday morning Bible Study and the Church Golf League, where he had one of his three career holes-in-one. He was employed as a truck driver for 42 years, working at Standard Oil, Coastal Tanklines, Anchor Motor Freight, Karago Express and Carney McNicholas, retiring in 1997. Robert enjoyed golf, gardening and collecting elephants and swords..
He leaves his loving wife, Suzanne Lenz Steck, whom he married on June 25, 1960; his daughter, Melissa K. Steck Dermatas of Kill Devil Hills, NC; son, Robert B. Steck of Conway, SC; his brother, Thomas Steck of St. Petersburg, FL; four granddaughters, Hannah Dermatas, Celena Dermatas, Tatum Dermatas and Caleigh Steck and two grandsons, Robert Tyler Steck and Nikolas Dermatas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Andio and Alyce Weaver.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 11am at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. Boardman, with Pastor Larry Bowald officiating.
Friends will be received prior to the service from 9-10:45am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
