New Springfield - Robert J. Petrus, 75, died December 13, 2016 in St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. He was born April 11, 1941 in Youngstown, son of the late Joe and Mildred Petrus.
He was a 1959 graduate of Springfield Local High School. Bob was employed as a machinist and tool & die maker with General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell. He was very involved with the 4H Program with his children and also very active in Scouts with his children and grandchildren. Bob enjoyed doing stain glass work and going to car shows. He also was an excellent woodworker and did most of the woodwork in his home. Bob was very outgoing and lighthearted and could carry a conversation with anyone he met. He always tried to make the best of any situation and wanted nothing but the best for his children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather.
He leaves his three sons, Robert Petrus of New Middletown, Matt Petrus of Baltimore, MD and Chris Petrus of New Springfield; three grandchildren, Bobby Petrus, Tristan Petrus and Jaime Hofiert; his sister, Joanne Maga and his brother, David Petrus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Petrus.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St. Struthers.
Prayer services will begin on Saturday at 9:15am at the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10am at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 463 Robinson Rd. Campbell with Rev. Kevin E. Marks officiating.
Interment will follow in Lake Park Cemetery.
