Robert Alex Parry, 42, of Youngstown, died Monday evening, March 28, 2016 at his residence after a one year battle with lung cancer.
Robert affectionately known as Bobby was born October 1, 1973 in Youngstown, a son of John Sr., and Veronica Iannucci Parry.
Raised in Youngstown, Bobby was a 1993 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Youngstown State University. He was employed by St. Elizabeth Medical Center as a histologist technician for 7 years. Prior to that he worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital and Advanced Dermatology in Boardman.
Bobby was a volunteer for both the Greater Youngstown Italian Festival and Polish Day Festival. Bobby owned a 62' Chevy Impala of which he enjoyed working on. He loved attending swap meets, car shows, and flea markets and was a collector of comic books, baseball cards and sports memorabilia. Bobby was a sports enthusiast and was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and bled black and gold. Bobby embraced his family and friends, loved life, and loved living his life. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his great sense of humor, and for his compassion of others before himself.
Bobby is survived by his three brothers, John Parry, Jr. of Youngstown, Mathew (Kelly) Parry of Struthers, and Dean (Renee') Parry of Canfield; his sister, Rebecca Parry of Grand Junction, MI; one niece, Courtney; two nephews, Ryan and Connor; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Besides his parents, John and Veronica, Bobby was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Betty Parry and Sortino and Helen Iannucci; three uncles, Frank Iannucci, Ron Petrella, and Joseph Shushok; and one aunt, Mary Jane Shushok.
A service celebrating Bobby's life will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 4-7 PM and Friday from 10-10:45 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville, Ohio.
Bobby's family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the staff at Hospice of the Valley, Dr. Michael O'Brien and the oncology department at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
