Girard-Robert A. Menichini, 84, formerly of Lowellville, died Saturday evening, November 18, 2017 at Omni Manor Health Care Center.
Mr. Menichini was born May 23, 1933 in Lowellville, a son of Mauro and Concetta Minetti Menichini.
He was a graduate of Lowellville High School. Mr. Menichini worked as a painter for V&D Painting, retiring after 26 years of service, and was a member of the Local Painter's Union.
Bob was a talented artist and in his free time, he enjoyed doing sketches and paintings. He also had a passion for music, especially jazz, and played both the organ and trumpet. While serving in the United States Army, Bob played the trumpet in the Army Band. In his retirement years, he enjoyed meeting his friends out for coffee at several area restaurants.
His wife, the former Jill Cooper, preceded him in death in 1985. He is survived by his daughter, Christina Menichini of Hot Springs, AR; two sons, Anthony (Reema) Menichini of Atlanta, GA and Michael (Ira) Menichini of Dubai; sister, Lillian Mangine of Lowellville; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Paul Menichini; sisters, Mary Coppola and Ann Pinter; and grandson, Ryan Smith.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-5:45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill Street, Lowellville. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Paul Lisko officiating. Interment will be at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
